Hot Rods Quelled In 5-1 Defeat to Drive

Bowling Green, Kentucky – Ryan Cermak delivered two hits and three stolen bases, but the Bowling Green Hot Rods (81-48, 34-30) were held in check by the Greenville Drive (59-69, 33-32) in a 5-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Drive opened the scoring with four runs in the top of the sixth inning against reliever Alexander Campos. Three consecutive Drive homers from Isaiah Jackson, Ronny Hernandez, and Yophery Rodriguez turned a scoreless game into a 4-0 Greenville edge.

The Hot Rods tallied one run in the bottom of the sixth against bullpen arm Adam Bates. Brendan Summerhill singled to right, stole second base, and advanced to third on a double play. Narciso Polanco smacked an RBI double to right-center field, scoring Summerhill, and making it 4-1 Drive.

Greenville added another run in the top of the seventh inning against relief pitcher Andres Galan. Givian Sirvania clubbed a solo home run, boosting the Drive’s lead to 5-1.

Bowling Green rallied in the bottom of the ninth against Greenville reliever Griffin Kilander. Cermak beat out an infield single, Carlos Colmenarez added a base hit, and Ricardo Gonzalez collected his third walk to load the bases. A strikeout and a Ryan McCoy lineout to second left the tying run at the plate, finishing a 5-1 final score.

Bates (1-1) received the win, throwing 2.2 innings, giving up just one run on two hits, mixing in two walks and two strikeouts. Campos (0-1) took the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits, walking one and punching out three over 3.2 frames.

The Hot Rods close their 2026 regular season schedule against the Drive on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PM CT. Bowling Green sends LHP Blake Morgan (1-1, 7.16) to the mound against Greenville RHP Leighton Finley (0-0, 0.00) for Closing Day.
