Minor League Baseball (MiLB) today announced the All-Stars for the South Atlantic League. Two Brooklyn Cyclones have been selected to the team after having impressive debut seasons on Coney Island.
Daviel Hurtado was one of four starting pitchers named to the team. The 21-year-old went 5-3 with a 2.69 ERA over 17 games, 15 starts with Brooklyn. The southpaw allowed two earned runs or less in 14 of 17 games and limited the opposition to a .189 batting average. The native of Cuba was signed internationally by the Mets in January of 2023 and was named the SAL pitcher of the month for June after going 4-1 with a 2.03 ERA in five starts during the month.
Sammy Stafura was named the utility player on the SAL squad after an impressive season split between Greensboro and Brooklyn in the South Atlantic League. In 68 games in the circuit, the 21-year-old hit .284 (76-268) with 56 runs scored, 15 doubles, 21 home runs, 56 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Stafura was originally selected in the 2nd round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds and was acquired from by the Mets from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Luke Weaver at the trade deadline. The Corlandt Manor, NY resident was named the SAL Player of the Month for July.
In 2025, three Cyclones were named to the SAL All-Star Team – Jacob Reimer (3B), Chris Suero (Catcher) and Carson Benge (OF).
