BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The New York Mets have announced that SS Elian Peña has been promoted to High-A Brooklyn. The No. 3 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline, Peña heads north as the youngest Mets player to reach the High-A level in 16 years.

Listed at 5’10, 180 lbs, Peña joins Brooklyn after an outstanding campaign with Single-A St. Lucie. In 96 games, the lefty batter slashed .271/.388/.397/.785. Peña launched eight homers while adding 44 RBI, 72 runs scored and 28 stolen bases.

At the time of his promotion, the Azua, DR native was tied for the Florida State League lead in runs scored and tied for ninth in the league in stolen bases. Peña also drew 61 walks, good for sixth in the FSL, while his .388 on-base percentage was tied for seventh. Peña tore the cover off the ball during his last few weeks with St. Lucie, hitting .321 with five homers and 18 RBI over his last 26 games.

Peña originally signed with New York as a 16-year-old in January of 2025, receiving a $5 million signing bonus, the largest given out in Mets history to an international amateur.

In 2025, Peña spent the entirety of his season with the Dominican Summer League Mets. Over his final 46 games there, he slashed .342/.463/.618 with nine home runs and 23 extra-base hits. On the season, he finished his DSL campaign with a .949 OPS.

Peña enjoyed two separate three-homer games during his time in the DSL last year, and was named the league’s Player of the Month last August.

A member of the Mets’ 2026 Spring Breakout roster, Peña is described by Baseball America as someone with a smooth, explosive lefty swing. The same publication deemed him the prospect with the best strike-zone discipline entering 2026.

Peña and the Cyclones return to action on Tuesday at HomeTrust Park to open up a six-game series with the Asheville Tourists. First pitch is slated for 6:35. After their two-week road swing, Brooklyn returns home for the final week of the regular season against the Frederick Keys on Tuesday, September 1.
