WORCESTER, MA – The Buffalo Bisons fell to the Worcester Red Sox 10-3 on Thursday evening at Polar Park.
C.J. Stubbs launched his sixth home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning. His two-run shot provided a late spark for the Bisons who ultimately fell short.
Worcester took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice flyout by Mickey Gasper that scored Franklin Arias.
The Red Sox extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Kristian Campbell hit an RBI double that scored Allan Castro, and Nathan Hickey followed with an RBI single that brought home Campbell.
Worcester made it 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Hickey hit a two-run RBI triple that scored Brett Harris and Vinny Capra. Arias followed with an RBI single that brought home Hickey, and Nathan Eaton capped off the inning with a two-run homer that scored Arias.
Buffalo got on the board in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Yohendrick Piñango that scored Sean Keys, making it an 8-1 ballgame.
The Red Sox made it 10-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Arias hit a solo home run, Romy Gonzalez followed with an RBI single that scored Gasper.
Brendan Cellucci worked a scoreless seventh inning for the Bisons, striking out two.
Sam Gardner retired the side for Buffalo in the top of the eighth, striking out one.
The Bisons cut the deficit to 10-3 in the top of the ninth on a two-run homer by Stubbs that scored Nick Goodwin.
Buffalo and Worcester are scheduled for a 6:45 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening at Polar Park. John Klein is slated to start on the mound for the Bisons. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 6:15 p.m.
