Bisons unable to overcome Rochester 7-6 Thursday night

ROCHESTER, NY – The Buffalo Bisons fell to the Rochester Red Wings 7-6 on Thursday evening at ESL Ballpark.

Six different Bisons scored in the loss, with Josh Smith driving in two of them. Buffalo’s pitching staff combined for thirteen strikeouts in the game.

Rochester took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the third. Yohandy Morales hit an RBI single that scored Liover Peguero. Cayden Wallace followed with a two-run single that scored Seaver King and Morales to give the Red Wings a 3-0 lead.

The Bisons responded in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 3-3. Sean Keys and Yohendrick Pinango scored on an error, and Smith drew a bases-loaded walk that brought home Nick Goodwin.

The Red Wings took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a three-run home run by Trey Lipscomb that scored Phillip Glasser and Morales.

Buffalo responded again to tie the game in the top of the sixth. Peyton Williams scored on a fielders choice, and Smith hit an RBI groundout that scored Carlos Mendoza. Jay Harry followed with an RBI groundout that scored William Simoneit.

Lazaro Estrada retired the side in the bottom of the sixth for the Bisons, striking out one.

Brendan Cellucci struckout the side in the bottom of the eighth for Buffalo.

Glasser walked it off for the Red Wings in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single that scored Peguero to give Rochester a 7-6 victory.

Buffalo and Rochester are scheduled for a 6:45 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening at ESL Ballpark. Jameson Taillon is slated to start on the mound for the Bisons. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 6:25 p.m.
