WORCESTER, MA – Carlos Mendoza recorded four hits for the Buffalo Bisons, paving the way to a 9-6 win over the Worcester Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Polar Park.

Mendoza drove in four runs on two of his hits in the game. He hit a two-run home run in the top of the second inning and a two-run double in the third.

Buffalo snapped the scoreless tie in the second inning. Mendoza blasted his two-run homer to right field.

The Bisons added onto their lead in the third. Ismael Munguia popped out to third base on an infield fly, but Brett Harris dropped the ball. Josh Kasevich was able to score along with Sean Keys, thanks to an interference error by John Holobetz to put Buffalo up 4-0. Mendoza stayed hot, as he hit a two-run double to right field.

Davis Schneider increased Worcester’s deficit in the fourth inning. Schneider smahed a three-run homer to left field to give the Bisons a 9-0 lead.

However, the Red Sox would avoid a shutout loss in the bottom half of the inning. Mikey Romero drilled a two-run homer to right field.

Worcester continued to chip away at Buffalo’s lead. In the fifth, Franklin Arias hit an RBI single to trim the deficit to 9-3.

Arias once again cut the Bisons’ advantage in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a sac-fly to center field, scoring Brett Harris. Tsung-Che Cheng, who pinch-hit for Trevor Story, then grounded out to first base, allowing Jason Delay to cross home plate to give the Bisons only a 9-5 advantage.

The Red Sox continued to attempt to mount a comeback in the ninth. Delay hit a solo shot to left field to bring the deficit to three runs. However, three straight outs sealed the victory for the Bisons.
