Williams homers in Bisons 7-5 back and forth loss to Lehigh Valley

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bisons fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 7-5 in a back-and-forth contest on Thursday evening at Sahlen Field.

Peyton Williams launched his second home run of the season to score the first run of the game. From the second and fourth inning, both teams traded leads in a tightly contested matchup.

Williams launched a solo home run to take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Lehigh Valley responded in the top of the third to take a 2-1 lead. Colby Thomas hit an RBI single that scored Rafael Marchan, and Dylan Moore followed with an RBI single that brought home Carter Kieboom.

Buffalo responded in the bottom of the third to retake the lead. Yohendrick Pinango hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jay Harry, and Nick Goodwin followed with an RBI single that scored Kameron Misner to make it 3-2.

The IronPigs responded again in the top of the fourth inning. Kameron Misner hit a two-run home run that scored Steward Berroa to take a 4-3 lead.

Lehigh Valley extended their lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Moore that scored Thomas.

The Bisons cut the deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Carlos Mendoza that scored Ismael Munguia.

Sam Gardner worked two scoreless innings for the Bisons, striking out two and retiring the side in the top of the seventh.

The IronPigs extended their lead to 7-4 in the top of the ninth. Otto Kemp hit an RBI triple that scored Marchan, and Kieboom followed with an RBI single that brought home Kemp.

The Bisons cut the deficit to 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning. Sean Keys hit an RBI single that scored Rudy Martin Jr.

Buffalo and Lehigh Valley are scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening at Sahlen Field. Richard Gallardo is slated to start on the mound for the Bisons. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 6:15 p.m.
