Moss’s Clutch Double Leads RiverDogs Past Fireflies
Columbia, SC – The Charleston RiverDogs rallied late to earn a gutsy 3-1 win over the Columbia Fireflies on Sunday night at Segra Park.
Both sides traded scoreless innings through the fifth as pitching dominated the first half of the game. Charleston starter Luke Jackson set the tone with two scoreless innings ahead of Jordi Infante who delivered three shutout frames of his own.
With two outs in the top of the sixth, Grady Emerson lined a two-strike, left-on-left single to right center that brought home Andreimi Antunez to push the RiverDogs ahead 1-0.
After Columbia evened the score in the bottom of the seventh, Charleston rallied with two outs again in the eighth. With two strikes, Dean Moss barreled a two-run double to right center to put Charleston in the lead, and cap scoring at 3-1.
In the bottom of the frame, Columbia loaded the bases with one out for Camden Johnson who rolled a two-run single to right to earn Columbia a 6-5 win.
With the win, the RiverDogs moved to 69-57 and 32-28 in the second half, while Columbia fell to 63-62, and 28-31 in the second half. After a day off on Monday, the club returns home on Tuesday to begin a six-game series versus the Augusta GreenJackets, the Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. First pitch for game one is slated for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 on MiLB.TV and the RiverDogs Broadcast Network.

After clinching the Carolina League South first half title, the RiverDogs have secured a spot in the 2026 postseason, presented by Nucor Steel Berkeley. The best-of-three Division Series begins on Tuesday, September 8. Thanks to their first-half division title, the RiverDogs are guaranteed to host Game 2, and, if necessary, Game 3, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on September 10 and 11.
