Toscano Shines in RiverDogs 3-1 Victory Over GreenJackets
Charleston, SC – Behind dominant pitching and more early offense, the Charleston RiverDogs secured a 3-1 victory over the Augusta GreenJackets in front of 3,748 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
For the second consecutive night, Charleston opened scoring in the first when Taitn Gray powered a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Grady Emerson and make it 1-0.
In the third, the RiverDogs pushed across another when Cooper Flemming slapped an RBI single to left to push the lead to two.
Charleston tacked on another when Gray poked a single to left to extend the lead to 3-0.
Augusta added on one run in the seventh to cap scoring at 3-1.
Starter Miguel Toscano was stellar on the mound, tossing five shutout innings to match a career-high mark. Efrailin Ramos followed in relief, allowing one run over two innings before Riley Stanford slammed the door with two shutout frames.
Stanford punched out five on the night, including three straight to weave out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth.
With the win, the RiverDogs moved to 71-57 and 33-28 in the second half, while Augusta fell to 68-59, and 33-28 in the second half. The two return to the diamond tomorrow for game three of the series. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 on MiLB.TV and the RiverDogs Broadcast Network.

After clinching the Carolina League South first half title, the RiverDogs have secured a spot in the 2026 postseason, presented by Nucor Steel Berkeley. The best-of-three Division Series begins on Tuesday in Hickory, September 8. Thanks to their first-half division title, the RiverDogs are guaranteed to host Game 2, and, if necessary, Game 3, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on September 10 and 11.

Ballpark Fun:
It was Ladies Night, featuring the return of Shred Your Ex. Fans brought photos of their exes to send through the shredder and received a free basket of fries for their troubles. The night was all about the girls, with an on-site flower truck in partnership with Jessamine Flower Truck, while 84Flea and Deluxe Hats brought a vintage market to the ballpark. The first 100 girls through the gates received a free hat, with Anywhere INK. on-site to press a RiverDogs logo onto their new hats. The RiverDogs also celebrated Girls in Sports Night in partnership with Lowcountry Chevy Dealers, welcoming girls youth sports teams from across the Lowcountry. The evening included a check presentation from the Anastopoulo Law Firm to Leveling the Fields, a nonprofit that provides free girls sports programming in Title I schools. Members of the College of Charleston women’s sports teams were also on hand as the RiverDogs celebrated and supported women and girls in sports.
