CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Knights finished off their domination of the Durham Bulls during the 2026 season with a 5-3 victory at Truist Field on Sunday evening. In 18 head-to-head matchups between the two rivals this year, Charlotte came out on top 14 times.
Sunday’s ballgame featured quality pitching and timely hitting from both sides. The Knights erased an early 1-0 deficit when Korey Lee clubbed a solo blast over the left field wall, his 16th Home Run of the season.
Durham jumped back in front 2-1 in the top of the third inning; however, Charlotte responded in the bottom half with three runs highlighted by Ryan Galanie’s RBI single. A second run crossed the plate on a Bulls error and Lee drove in the third run of the frame with an RBI groundout.
Junior Perez added the final tally for the Knights with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Charlotte used a pitching by committee approach with the off day on tap for Monday and six different arms all contributed to the victory. Daniel Wright was credited with the win in his Knights debut. Tyler Schweitzer, Adisyn Coffey, and Garrett Schoenle all earned holds.
Jaden Woods pitched the ninth and picked up his second save of the season while Jose Urquidy started and covered the first two innings in his Truist Field debut.
The win improved Charlotte’s second-half record to 20-19 and their overall record 62-52. Next up is a 12-game road trip that will have major implications in the IL standings. The season-long trip away from home begins at 6:45pm ET on Tuesday night in Rochester, NY.
