MOOSIC, PA – The Charlotte Knights won their second straight ballgame over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Wednesday night. Charlotte received a masterful pitching performance and timely hitting on their way to a 7-2 victory.

The pitching was led by Major League rehabber Drew Thorpe. In his second rehab start with Charlotte, Thorpe pitched five strong innings and limited Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s offense to two runs. The relief pitching effort consisted of Tyler Gilbert, Tyler Davis, and Nick Altermatt. In total, the RailRiders were held without a hit over the contest’s final five frames.

Offensively, the Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Ryan Galanie’s RBI single plated Rikuu Nishida and opened the scoring. The next batter, Junior Perez, added an RBI fielder’s choice.

After the RailRiders tied the game 2-2, Galanie struck again in the top of the third. The Knights designated hitter crushed a two-run Home Run off the videoboard in left field for his 19th round-tripper of the season.

Riley Unroe padded the lead with a two-run homer of his own in the fourth. Unroe’s blast, along with another Galanie RBI single, provided all of the cushion the Knights would need.

The victory moves Charlotte’s second-half record back above .500 at 24-23 and their overall record to ten games over .500 at 66-56.

The Knights and RailRiders will match up in Game Three of the series from PNC Park on Thursday evening at 7:05pm ET.
