LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – The Charlotte Knights and the Gwinnett Stripers took the field on Wednesday evening for Game Two of their current six-game series. Gwinnett broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of late runs and topped the Knights by a final score of 4-2 to even the series.
The contest was played in a brisk 1-hour-and-57-minutes where the pitching from both sides was dominant. Drew Thorpe led the way for the Knights in his most recent Major League rehab appearance. Thorpe covered five innings, scattered two runs, and struck out three.
Rikuu Nishida paced the Knights offensively with a 2-for-3 performance. Charlotte only managed five hits in the contest but did receive an RBI single from Michael Turner. The Knights first-baseman also contributed a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth that drew Charlotte level.
Huascar Brazoban made his Charlotte Knights debut and pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning. Brazoban is one of four Chicago White Sox players currently with the Knights on injury rehab.
Gwinnett’s offense, held to seven hits in the game, mustered a seventh inning rally that resulted in two key runs, their final margin of victory.
The Knights will look to reclaim the series momentum on Thursday with Game Three slated for 7:05pm ET from Gwinnett Field.
