CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Knights and the Memphis Redbirds were engaged in a pitcher’s duel on Wednesday night. In the middle of the sixth inning, the rain hit Truist Field and halted play with Charlotte trailing 2-0.
Due to the completion of five innings and no let up in sight, the Knights were forced to endure a 2-0 loss to the Redbirds.
Noah Schultz worked five innings for Charlotte and delivered another solid start. Schultz surrendered just two runs on five hits and struck out three. Tyler Davis pitched a scoreless top of the sixth behind Schultz.
Offensively, the home team only received five frames at the plate due to the weather conditions.
Charlotte was held without a run but did receive contributions from Korey Lee, Dru Baker, Andy Weber, and Joey Wiemer. Lee led the way with base-hits in both of his plate appearances.
The rain-shortened result evens up the series at one game apiece. Game Four is slated for Thursday evening at 7:04pm ET.
