NASHVILLE, TN – The Charlotte Knights had their six-game winning streak snapped on Friday night with a 4-2 loss suffered against the Nashville Sounds. Charlotte never led but entered the bottom of the eighth inning with the game tied. Nashville rallied for two late runs and the Knights were unable to respond in the ninth.
The Sounds took a 2-0 lead by taking advantage of pitches that were out of the zone. The Knights walked the bases loaded in the fourth inning, then walked in a run. A wild pitch allowed the second run to score before the pitching staff restored order.
Ryan Galanie came through with a two-run Home Run in the top of the sixth inning that knotted the ballgame up 2-2. The blast was Galanie’s 17th of the season and third of the series.
The Knights were held scoreless the rest of the way despite solid contact and a handful of scoring opportunities. It was just one of those games where the baseball did not bounce Charlotte’s way.
The Sounds pushed the game deciding runs across in the bottom of the eighth and with that earned their first victory of the series.
Charlotte and Nashville will take the field for Game Five on Saturday evening at 7:35pm ET.
