NASHVILLE, TN – The Charlotte Knights dropped Saturday evening’s game against the Nashville Sounds by a final score of 6-3. Charlotte received a pair of Home Runs from Riley Unroe but were unable to overcome Nashville’s five-run first inning.
Things started off looking good for the Knights when they loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the first. Nashville escaped the jam without allowing any runs and the Sounds used that momentum in the bottom half to take a 5-0 lead.
The Knights bullpen combination of Adisyn Coffey, Hagen Smith, Joe Rock, Jairo Iriarte, Tyler Davis, and Tanner McDougal held Nashville to only one run over the contest’s final eight innings.
Offensively, all three of Charlotte’s runs came courtesy of Unroe. The Knights third-baseman clubbed a pair of homers - a two-run shot in the second and a solo blast in the ninth.
During the game, Charlotte’s first-baseman Nolan Jones was pulled from the contest after the Chicago White Sox executed a trade with the Seattle Mariners. It is the third time this season that a Knights player has been traded mid-game.
Charlotte can still clinch the series with a victory on Sunday. The series finale, and final game against Nashville this season, is set for 7:05pm ET.
