Bowie, MD (August 18, 2026) – Minor League Baseball announced Monday that Baysox second baseman Aron Estrada was named to the MLB Pipeline Prospect Team of the Week for the week of August 11-16, 2026.
Estrada went 9-for-19 at the plate in five games (four starts) in Reading last week against the Fightin Phils – the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Estrada totaled six extra-base hits, including five home runs, while totaling 10 RBI. He posted an OPS of 1.792 last week.
Estrada opened the week by going 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Tuesday night’s series opener. He brought home a run via a groundout, before belting a solo homer to left-center field in the fifth inning. The homer for Estrada snapped a 3-for-29 slump to begin the month of August.
Estrada began Wednesday’s game with a first pitch leadoff homer in the top of the first inning, for homers in back-to-back contests. He ended Wednesday’s game 1-for-4 at the plate. The switch-hitting 21-year-old did not start Thursday night’s game, but pinch hit and entered the game in the seventh inning, driving home a run on a sacrifice fly and notching a single in two trips to the plate.
On Friday, Estrada went deep with a solo shot in the fifth inning and also drew a walk. It marked the first time in Estrada’s professional career that he homered in three consecutive starts.
Saturday night was a career performance for Estrada, as he went 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and five RBI. He once again homered on the game’s first pitch to start the contest and then hammered another solo shot on the first pitch he saw in the top of the third inning. He then added an RBI single in the fourth, an infield single in the sixth and a two-run double in the eighth. It was the first five-hit performance and first multi-homer game of Estrada’s career. Saturday night also served as the 30th five-hit game in Baysox franchise history – the first since John Rhodes on June 16, 2024, in Harrisburg.
Estrada’s five homers and 1.792 OPS ranked second-best of all league hitters last week. His nine hits and six extra-base hits were joint most of any Eastern League player.
Estrada now has 21 home runs for Chesapeake this season – the most homers by a Baysox player in a single campaign since Billy Cook notched 24 homers during the 2023 season. Estrada is the youngest player to have a 20-homer campaign with the Baysox in franchise history. It’s only the second 20-homer campaign with the Baysox by a 21-year-old – the other being Calvin Pickering in 1998, who finished the season with 31 home runs – third-most in a single season in franchise history.
Estrada is back in action with the Baysox on Tuesdy night, when Chesapeake opens a six-game homestand at Prince George’s Stadium against the Richmond Flying Squirrels – the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. First pitch on Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:35 pm ET.
