Reading, PA (August 15, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, mashed past the Reading Fightin Phils, the Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-3 on Saturday night behind a five-hit, five-RBI, multi-homer performance from Aron Estrada.
In a signature performance in the 21-year-old’s career, Estrada set the tone from the first pitch of the game. Leading off the contest, he smacked the game’s opening offering into the left field seats for his twentieth homer of the season. It was the second time this week Estrada homered on the game’s first pitch Wednesday night. Saturday night was Estrada’s fourth leadoff homer of the season and the tenth by a Baysox batter. Chesapeake’s 10 leadoff homers are tied for the most in all Minor League Baseball.
Estrada next came up in a tied game in the third. He once again took the first pitch he saw deep – this time to left-center field – giving the Baysox a 2-1 lead. Estrada’s 21 homers this season are second-most of any Orioles minor leaguer and the most by a Baysox player in a single campaign since Billy Cook’s 24 homers in 2023.
Chesapeake (24-19, 54-58) struck for an additional run in the third after back-to-back doubles from Frederick Bencosme and Thomas Sosa.
An inning later, Victor Figueroa led off the fourth with a solo shot – his third long ball at Double-A. Estrada came up later in the frame to notch his third hit of the night – a run scoring single into center to make it a 5-1 game.
In the fifth, Dom Keegan got in on the action. Keegan launched a two-run shot to the right of center field for his fifth Baysox home run and his third straight game with a long ball. Keegan’s big fly was the fourth homer of the night for Chesapeake, who has gone deep seven times in the past two nights.
In the sixth, Estrada hustled out an infield single for his fourth hit of the night. That set the stage for the top of the eighth inning, when he came up with two on and two out and laced a two-run double just out of the reach of Reading’s right fielder Raylin Heredia to cap off the first five-hit night of his career.
Estrada’s five hit game is the 30th in Baysox franchise history and the first since John Rhodes on June 16, 2024, in Harrisburg.
The Baysox finished Saturday with 15 hits – tied for their third-highest total in a game this season. Chesapeake’s eight extra-base hits on Saturday is their second-highest total of 2026. Eight of nine Baysox players finished with at least one hit. Wehiwa Aloy tallied his second three-hit game at the Double-A level.
On the mound, right-hander and Orioles top 15 prospect JT Quinn made his Double-A debut with the Baysox on Saturday. Quinn took some time to settle in, walking three and delivering 28 pitches in the first. Still, the righty showed resolve, allowing just one run on a bases loaded fielder’s choice. He completed four frames on Saturday, allowing just two base runners in his final three innings, while striking out six.
Right-hander Trace Bright took things the rest of the way. Bright (W, 1-2) struck out seven batters and only allowed two base runners before a pair of runs scored on two hits in the ninth inning.
The Baysox wrap up their six-game series in Reading on Sunday night, with right-hander Caden Hunter (AA: 1-2, 4.50 ERA) opposing Fightin Phils righty Jean Cabrera (3-5, 7.48 ERA) in a rematch of Tuesday’s starting pitching matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 5:15 pm from FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Baysox return home on Tuesday, August 18, when they open a six-game set with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6:35 pm ET.
