Bowie, MD (August 8, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, knocked two important hits past the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, in a 5-2 win Saturday.
Chesapeake (22-16, 51-55) saw right-hander Anthony Eyanson strike out nine in a strong showing in his Orioles organization debut.
Eyanson, the Orioles' No. 1 prospect after being acquired for Adley Rutschman, tossed five innings and gave up two runs on a pair of solo homers. Eyanson (W, 5-0) struck out nine batters and fanned five Senators in a six batter span midway through the start.
After the start, Eyanson still holds a 1.87 Double-A ERA, the lowest amongst Eastern League pitchers with a minimum of 50 innings pitched. Eyanson has made 11 combined starts for the Baysox and Portland Sea Dogs.
Across their last seven games, Baysox starting arms have a combined 3-0 record and 1.09 ERA (three earned runs across 25.2 innings) with 30 strikeouts to just four walks.
Harrisburg went ahead 1-0 in the top of the second on a Kervin Pichardo leadoff home run to right center field.
The Baysox responded with a loud, matching leadoff homer in the inning's home half. Victor Figueroa tied the game by turning on an inside fastball and sending his second Double-A homer 443-feet to right field.
The homer brings Figueroa up to 24 home runs and 83 RBI this season, both of which still lead all Orioles minor leaguers.
Chesapeake took their lead after Figueroa doubled and Aron Estrada walked to lead off the fourth inning. Frederick Bencosme scored both of them against Senators righty Jhancarlos Lara (L, 0-2) on a two-run double up the right field line for a 3-1 Baysox lead.
Harrisburg added a second and final run against Eyanson in the fifth inning. Devin Ortiz hit a solo home run that cut the Baysox lead to 3-2.
To start the sixth inning, Eyanson was relieved by right-hander Alex Pham, who struck out a pair across two scoreless innings. Pham has had scoreless outings in nine of his last 11 Double-A appearances.
The Baysox added to their lead on a Tavian Josenberger two-run home run in the sixth inning. Chesapeake went up 5-2 on Josenberger's tenth homer of the season, a towering right field shot that plated Griff O'Ferrall in the process.
Right-handed relievers Brock Moore and Keagan Gillies (S, 2) finished the game by pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth, respectively, and combined to face one above the minimum.
Chesapeake concludes its seven-game set against Harrisburg Sunday. The Baysox are set to start right-hander Trace Bright (AA: 0-1, 5.49 ERA) against Senators right-hander Jack Cebert (AA: 2-3, 4.90) First pitch Sunday is set for 1:05 pm from Prince George’s Stadium.
