Harrisburg, PA (August 28, 2026) – A two-run home run in the top of the tenth polished a four-hit, four-RBI night from Vance Honeycutt, leading the Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, past the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, by a 9-7 final in a wild Friday night affair.
Honeycutt’s first four-hit game of his professional career came on Friday. He came to the plate with one out in the top of the tenth and hammered a two-run shot deep into the left field seats for his first home run at Double-A off Harrisburg right-hander Sandy Gaston (L, 3-5).
All four of Honeycutt’s hits on Friday in a 4-for-6 showing were for extra bases. He doubled in the top of the first inning, before lashing his second double of the night in the third. He scored Chesapeake’s first run of the night on an Ethan Anderson groundout.
After falling behind by a run on a couple of occasions early, the Baysox took a 5-2 lead with a four-run fourth inning. Honeycutt was once again the focal point. With two runners on and two outs, he blistered a triple to deep right-center field to bring home both runs and give the Baysox their first lead of the night at 3-2. Honeycutt later crossed home on a run-scoring single from Victor Figueroa, who later scored on an error to finish off the inning.
Harrisburg scored three runs in the first four frames against right-handed starter JT Quinn. In his third Double-A start on Friday, Quinn walked four to force in a run in the second but still struck out three in the frame. He surrendered a solo home run to the Senators’ Ethan Petry in the third, before a run scored on an error in the fourth. Quinn finished Friday with five walks and seven strikeouts.
Harrisburg tied the game in the sixth when a pair of walks came around to score on a two-out error. The Senators took the lead in the seventh on a pair of hits, including an RBI double from T.J. White. With two outs in the frame, a base hit looked to bring home an additional run for the Senators, but Tavian Josenberger threw out the runner trying to advance to third from left field before the runner crossed home, negating the potential tally.
Chesapeake (30-24, 59-63) re-tied the contest in the top of the eighth. Frederick Bencosme walked to lead off the frame and was replaced by pinch runner Fernando Peguero, who stole second and scampered to third on a wild pitch. With two outs, Anderson tallied his second RBI of the night on a ground ball single rolled through the right side of the infield.
The tie score held until the tenth, when Honeycutt’s homer was followed by an additional insurance run. Anderson reached with two outs on an error and was singled home by Thomas Sosa. Sosa notched his third three-hit game of the season and reached base five times on Friday.
In the bottom of the tenth, left-hander Micah Ashman entered for a second inning of relief following a scoreless ninth. Harrisburg brought a run home on a sacrifice fly and loaded the bases with two outs on a pair of singles and a walk, but Ashman (W, 2-1) struck out Elijah Green to end the game and strand the tying and winning runs on base.
Chesapeake continues the series in Harrisburg on Saturday night. Right-hander Pat Reilly (AA: 0-2, 4.70 ERA) takes the ball for the Baysox against Senators’ right-hander Yoel Tejeda Jr. (AA: 0-4, 7.25 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm from FNB Field.
The Baysox return home for one final homestand in 2026 on Tuesday, September 1, when they kick off a six-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
