Bowie, MD (July 22, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, powered past the Erie SeaWolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, in a 7-3 final Wednesday.
Tavian Josenberger led Chesapeake (14-8) with a pair of game-tying homers for his first multi-home run game of full-season affiliated ball. Josenberger's second home run was the first of six unanswered runs the Baysox plated in their final three trips to the plate.
The SeaWolves struck first three batters into the contest. A Josue Briceno RBI single gave Erie an early 1-0 lead.
Josenberger's first homer Wednesday came in the home half of the fourth. Josenberger pulled a solo home run over the right field wall for a 1-1 tie.
The 1-1 tie held until a busy sixth inning. Erie got the frame started by plating two runs that were charged to Baysox right-handed starter Juaron Watts-Brown in a no decision. In the inning, the SeaWolves hit three singles in a four batter span, the last of which was a Garrett Pennington RBI hit for a 2-1 lead.
After five and a third innings, Watts-Brown was then relieved by righty Zane Barnhart, who tossed a wild pitch that scored Andrew Jenkins to close Watts-Brown's line and make it 3-1 SeaWolves. Barnhart (W, 2-3) pitched a scoreless inning and earned two strikeouts.
The Baysox responded emphatically by taking their first lead with a four-run bottom of the sixth against SeaWolves right-hander Yosber Sanchez (L, 3-2). Josenberger tied the game again, 3-3, with a two-run homer to right field that scored Anderson De Los Santos.
Josenberger is up to eight home runs this season, Wednesday marks the second-consecutive game with a multi-homer performance from a Chesapeake hitter, after Brandon Butterworth notched a pair of homers in Tuesday's win. Josenberger finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and a walk on Wednesday.
A batter later, Griff O'Ferrall singled and then scored to put the Baysox up 4-3 on a Doug Hodo RBI double.
The Baysox doubled their lead with a run in the seven inning. With the bases loaded, Dom Keegan ran from third to home on a wild pitch that put Chesapeake ahead 5-3.
Chesapeake added a pair of loud insurance runs an inning later. Hodo put the Baysox up 6-3 by crushing a solo homer to lead off the seventh, his seventh homer of the season.
Butterworth then ripped a RBI double that plated Hodo to put Chesapeake up 7-3, extending Butterworth's hitting streak to eight games.
Right-handers Keagan Gillies and Richard Guasch closed out the game for Chesapeake on the mound, combining to pitch two and two thirds scoreless innings while facing one above the minimum. Gillies struck out three across an inning and two-thirds before Guasch, who pitched for the SeaWolves last year, retired the side consecutively in the ninth.
Chesapeake hosts the third of six games against Erie Thursday. The Baysox are set to start LHP Sebastian Gongora (8-4, 3.49 ERA) against Erie righty Kenny Serwa (4-7, 5.06 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 pm Thursday from Prince George’s Stadium.
