Bowie, MD (August 7, 2026) – Recently acquired right-handed pitcher and current Orioles top prospect Anthony Eyanson is projected to make his first start in the Baltimore organization for the Chesapeake Baysox on Saturday night.
Eyanson was acquired by the Orioles earlier this week. He was one of three ranked prospects dealt to Baltimore as the return for catcher Adley Rutschman in a trade with the Boston Red Sox during Monday’s trade deadline. Eyanson currently ranks as the No. 34 prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America’s recently updated Top 100 rankings. He pencils in at number 49 on the MLB Pipeline Top 100. Eyanson is the highest-ranked Orioles prospect on both lists.
Despite being assigned to the Baysox on Tuesday, Eyanson is no stranger to the Double-A level or the Eastern League. The right-hander featured 11 times this season for the Portland Sea Dogs while with the Red Sox organization, making 10 starts. He went 4-0 with Portland, while posting just a 1.69 ERA (nine earned runs in 48 innings) with 60 strikeouts. Overall, in 2026, his first professional season, Eyanson has posted a 1.32 ERA in 16 outings (15 starts) and struck out 94 batters in 68 and one-third frames.
Eyanson was drafted in the third round by Boston in 2025 out of LSU. He pitched his final college season for the Tigers after transferring from UC San Diego. He won a national championship with LSU, earning the win in their clinching game of the College World Series.
Eyanson is projected to be Chesapeake’s starting pitcher on Saturday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, as the Baysox continue their seven-game series with the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. First pitch on Saturday night is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
