COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Fireflies, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, the Carolina League and Major League Baseball, announced their 2027 season home schedule today. The Fireflies 11th season in the Midlands opens at home Friday, April 2 vs the Charleston RiverDogs and runs until Sunday, September 5 on the road at Kannapolis. The club’s final home game in the 2027 season will be Sunday, August 29 vs the Hickory Crawdads.
As a part of the 2027 schedule release, the Columbia Fireflies invited members of the Columbia Miracle League to color in special graphics of the schedule to unveil to the public. The Columbia Miracle League is dedicated to enriching the Midlands community by providing inclusive, high-quality recreational programs and facilities for individuals with special needs and their families. Through sports, education and social engagement, the league creates opportunities for participants to build confidence, develop meaningful relationships and experience the joy of belonging in a supportive and welcoming environment. For more information about the Columbia Miracle League and how to volunteer or register to be a part of it, visit their website at www.parksandrec.columbiasc.gov/miracle-league.
The Fireflies will return their Capital City Bombers and Carolina Grits alternate identities in 2027 and the club will welcome in-state rivals like the Charleston RiverDogs (Tampa Bay Rays), Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) and Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Chicago Cubs) during the year.
“After our historic 10th anniversary season, it was going to be tough for us figure out how to make next season even bigger and better,” Team President Brad Shank said. “But I believe that with the way the schedule falls for 2027, it gives us a really great framework to provide fans with the world class experience they’re used to receiving each night that they come to Segra Park. We’ll be able to bring back fan-favorite promotions like Copa de la Diversion Weekend and alternate identities like the Carolina Grits and Capital City Bombers while also leaving room for some really interesting new promotions that I’m confident our fans will love.”
The Fireflies will welcome the Wilson Warbirds (Milwaukee Brewers) to town for the first time since the club rebranded from June 8-13 and the team will have a rematch of the 2025 Carolina League Championship Series with the Cleveland Guardians Class-A affiliate, who have rebranded and are now the Hill City Howlers from May 4-9.
Next season, the Fireflies play 33 of their 66 home games between April and May. The team starts the season on a nine-game homestand, first facing Charleston from April 2-4 and then Myrtle Beach from April 6-11. Following that, the team will have a second two-series homestand spanning 12 games from May 18-30 as it welcomes the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers) and Charleston back to Segra Park.
For the first time in team history, the Fireflies will not host an Independence Day game on July 3 or 4. The team’s first series in July will be Friday July 16-Sunday July 18 following the All-Star Break and the team will face the Charleston RiverDogs.
