Minor League Baseball today named Columbus Clingstones outfielder Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. the Southern League Player of the Week for August 4-9.
The award marks the first weekly honor of Kilpatrick Jr's professional career and makes him the eighth Columbus Clingstones player in franchise history to receive a weekly league award.
Kilpatrick Jr., 25, earned the recognition following his offensive week against Biloxi where he batted .615 (8-for-13) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBI, .643 OPS, 1.462 SLG and a 2.105 OPS over four games. Kilpatrick Jr. had a home run in each of the last three games he played marking the first time in his professional career he had three straight games with a home run.
Selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 17th round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of the College of Central Florida, Kilpatrick Jr. is hitting .251 with six home runs and 23 RBI over 81 games with the Clingstones, including a team best .414 batting average along with five home runs and 12 RBI when facing Biloxi this season.
Kilpatrick Jr. and the Clingstones travel to Regions Field for a six-game road trip against the Birmingham Barons from August 11-16. First pitch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
