The Columbus Clingstones (20-18, 49-53) surge for their fourth straight win and shutout the Biloxi Shuckers (20-18, 55-48) in a powerful outing from starter Garrett Baumann, with offensive help from Owen Carey and Kevin Kilpatrick Jr on Saturday night.
Decisive Plays: Baumann (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 SO) started hotter than ever and struck out seven batters the first time through the order. His only hit allowed was a Josh Adamczewski single in the top of the fourth inning. The Shuckers only pieced together three hits in the entire ballgame against a dominant Clingstones staff. Columbus' offense started in the bottom of the third with Owen Carey (1) striking his first Double-A home run, a three-run shot to the clubhouse that scored his fellow call-ups Eric Hartman and John Gil. Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. (5) hit his fifth homer of the season, and fourth against Biloxi, a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth and made it 5-0, Columbus. Kilpatrick Jr wasn't done with offense, with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to bring the score to 7-0. RHP Blane Abeyta closed the game out with a two-inning relief appearance and brought the Columbus win streak to four games.
Key Contributors: Kilpatrick Jr. (2-for-4, HR, 4 RBI) and Carey (1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) both homered for the Clingstones, while Baumann (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 9 SO, W) collected his fourth victory of the year with Columbus. For Biloxi, Adamczewski (1-for-4), Burke (1-for-4) and Dinges (1-for-3) had the only hits of the game for Columbus.
Notable: Columbus shut out their third opponent of the 2026 season. The Columbus pitching staff has struck out 10+ batters in 20 games since the start of the second half on June 23rd. Kilpatrick Jr has hit four of his five homers against Biloxi and grows his batting average to .407 against the Shuckers this season.
