The Columbus Clingstones (33-29, 62-64) were no match for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (39-22, 75-55) power in a 10-2 loss on Saturday night at Synovus Park.
Decisive Plays: Pensacola raced out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of solo home runs from Ryan Ignoffo and Payton Green in the second inning. A three-home run from Max Williams in the third inning made it 5-0. A two-run single from Luke Waddell made it 5-2, Pensacola, in the fourth inning. Williams homered again in the fifth, then a slew of wild pitches in the eighth inning made it 10-2.
Key Contributors: Waddell (1-for-3, 2 RBI) and John Gil (2-for-4, 3B) were the bright spots for Columbus on offense. For Pensacola, Ignoffo (2-for-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI), Williams (2-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI), and Green (2-for-5, HR, RBI) powered the Wahoos.
Notable: Gil tripled for the third time in his Double-A career. Columbus allowed five or more home runs for the third time this season. Pensacola needs one more win to clinch the South Division.
