The Columbus Clingstones (28-23, 57-58) backed up 14 runs on Saturday with a seven-spot in the first inning on Sunday powered by three home runs to claim a wire-to-wire win over the Montgomery Biscuits (27-24, 62-58) at Synovus Park. Columbus won the series 4-2.
Decisive Plays: Eric Hartman launched his second Double-A home run in as many games to start the scoring for Columbus and open the floodgates. Adam Zebrowski hit a solo home run (15) to make it 3-0. Three batters later, Archer Brookman lifted a three-run home run (9) to right field to make it 6-0. Columbus finished its incredible first inning with a double steal to score Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. and stretch the lead to 7-0. Montgomery would score once in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Caden Bodine and again in the sixth inning on a solo home run from Connor Hujsak to cut the deficit but would get no closer on Sunday.
Key Contributors: Brookman (1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) tallied a game high in RBI while Hartman (1-for-2, HR, 2 RBI) and Zebrowski (1-for-4, HR, RBI also added home runs. In his Double-A debut, Luke Sinnard (4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) worked into the fifth inning and kept the Biscuits off balance for much of the afternoon. For Montgomery, Hujsak (2-for-4, HR, RBI) and Bodine (3-for-4, RBI) did what they could to claw back.
Notable: Zebrowski became the first Clingstone in franchise history to record a home run in four-straight games. Hartman is up to 26 home runs across two levels this season and enters into a tie for first place in that category in the Braves' minor league system with teammates Alex Lodise and Jordan Groshans. The seven-run first inning tied the single-game franchise best, previously set on April 12 at Montgomery.
