
A late surge lead was enough for the Rocket City Trash Pandas (17-16, 52-49) as the Columbus Clingstones (16-17, 45-52) got a two-RBI game from Will Verdung but fell 8-5 in extra innings on Sunday evening at Synovus Park.
Decisive Plays: Rocket City took a 2-0 first inning lead on an RBI double from Jake Munroe. Columbus answered with three runs in the home half, including a two-run double from Verdung. Rocket City added another run in the third inning on a passed ball to tie the game, 3-3.
In the fourth inning, an RBI triple from Logan Braunschweig gave Columbus the lead before a passed ball extended the advantage to 5-3. A sacrifice fly from David Calabrese in the top of the fifth inning and a J.J. D'Orazio solo home run in the sixth inning tied the game at 5-5.
In the 10th inning, a Caleb Bartelero RBI single gave the Trash Pandas a 6-5 lead. Columbus went down in order in the home half.
Key Contributors: Verdung (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) provided the main bulk of offense for Columbus. For Rocket City, Munroe (1-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) and Calabrese (1-for-2, 3B, 2 RBI) drove in runs with extra-base hits.
Notable: Columbus falls to 4-4 in extra-inning games this season and lose the season series to Rocket city, 9-8 in 2026.
