COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Clippers lost to the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday night at Huntington Park, 8-4.
The Clippers scored four times in the 2nd inning, beginning when Ralphy Velazquez smoked a home run off the Pedialyte Porch in right field. The exit velocity on this missile was over 112 MPH!
Columbus was far from done. George Valera doubled in the game's second run, after which Angel Genao laced a two-run single to right, giving the Clippers an early 4-0 advantage.
Things swung the wrong way from there as Toledo surged to an 8-4 lead by the 8th inning. Then in the bottom of the 8th, Cooper Ingle launched his 17th home run of the season (and first after sundown) out of the park, a two-run shot which made it 8-6.
Storms hit in the 9th inning and the tarp was pulled before umpires officially ended the game.
RHP Trenton Denholm struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings, crossing the mark of 500 career strikeouts along the way.
With the defeat, Columbus now has an overall record of 56-50, while Toledo improves to 51-55.
