The Hooks, 2-9 in its last 11 games, surrendered the deciding run in the eighth on a lead-off walk and three wild pitches.
Corpus Christi erased a four-run deficit with a large fifth. Chase Call, notching his 20th of the season, and Tyler Whitaker swatted solo home runs. With 10 long balls on the year, Whitaker is one homer shy of matching his career high from 2022.
Later in the frame, Jason Schiavone capitalized on a Justin Thomas Jr. hit-by-pitch and Will Bush's walk with a two-out, two-run double down the left-field line. In addition to his 31 home runs, Schiavone leads the Astros system with 86 RBIs.
Corpus Christi's bullpen was terrific again as Joey Mancini and Hudson Leach combined for five-innings of one run ball, permitting one hit. Mancini, who was near perfect in recording a win Wednesday, has allowed one run in six innings over two appearances this week.
Hooks starter Nolan DeVos struck out five against one walk in four innings, allowing three earned runs.
Hector Salas went 2-for-4, upping his batting average to .297 in 14 Texas League games.
Thomas, who has reached safely in all but one of his 14 Double-A assignments, went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. The 22-year-old from Savannah, Georgia is batting .343 with two doubles, two home runs, and 11 runs scored over his last 10 games.
