MIDLAND - The Hooks opened their final series of the year with back-to-back wins, edging the RockHounds, 5-3, Wednesday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Corpus Christi scored four of its runs with two outs in the third. Walker Janek capitalized on walks by Justin Thomas Jr. and Will Bush by banging a two-run double off the fence in left. Janek then hustled home from second as Jack Moss plated two with a slow-rolling infield hit to short.
Max Holy, activated before the game after a two-week stay on the IL, completed the uprising with an RBI single to left.
Adam Shoemaker walked six but managed to strand seven over four scoreless innings in his Double-A debut.
