Alberto Hernandez ended a 15-inning scoreless drought for CC by belting a two-run home run to left-center field. Hernandez's second career Double-A homer was the 22-year-old's 13th circuit clout in 290 professional games.
Andrew Taylor picked up the win in his second Double-A outing, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five.
CC snapped a 2-2 stalemate by sending 11 men to bat in the sixth. Walker Janek, 3-for-5 with a first-inning triple bookended the frame with singles, including a two-out, two-run base hit to cap the scoring. Janek plated three on the day with his RBI groundout in the eighth.
Trevor Austin worked a bases-full walk in the rally with Hernandez and Jason Schiavone chipping in RBI singles. Hernandez pounced with two out.
Kenni Gomez's lead-off double in the eighth keyed a two-run frame for the Hooks before Wichita scored four times in the home half.
Amilcar Chirinos, who entered the game with the tying run on deck in the eighth, earned his second save of the week by dispatching four of the five men he faced. Chirinos places third in the Texas League with eight saves on the year.
Railin Perez was another highlight out of the Hooks pen as he struck out three in 1 1/3 perfect innings.
