The Hooks, who carried a 3-2 edge into the seventh, received a strong start by Brett Gillis. Matching his season-high with seven strikeouts, Gillis scattered six hits and did not issue a walk over 5 2/3 innings, throwing 53 of 87 pitches for strikes.
Tyler Whitaker paced CC's seven-hit output by going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Max Holy began the scoring by blasting his sixth Double-A home run, crushing the first pitch of the third over the fence in left at a speed of 106 MPH.
Doubles by Cameron Sisneros and Chase Call opened the Corpus Christi fifth. Call has produced six extra-base hits and 14 RBIs in 17 Double-A games. Alberto Hernandez capped the two-run frame with a two-out RBI single.
