AMARILLO - The Sod Poodles scored four times in the eighth inning Friday night, salting a 9-1 win over the Hooks before 4,638 fans at Hodgetown.
First-place Amarillo, ahead 3-1 on the week, leads the Hooks by four games in the Texas League South Second half with 14 remaining.
Corpus Christi, totaling 16 runs on 18 hits the previous two nights, was limited to one run on six singles Friday.
Amarillo right-hander Brian Curley established a new Double-A best with nine strikeouts over five shutout innings, scattering four hits and two walks.
The Hooks notched their marker in the sixth. Jason Schiavone, who also recorded an eighth-inning single, worked a walk to start the inning. Two outs later, Tyler Whitaker lined a knock into right, chasing Schiavone home from second.
Whitaker reached base three times on the night with a pair of walks.
Andrew Taylor fell to 2-1 in four Double-A starts, permitting five runs over 4 2/3 innings.
Jose Guedez was the highlight from the Hooks pen, retiring seven of eight batters faced with two strikeouts.
