Dayton Dragons Fire Night Presented by Lion Returns on August 6

The Dragons and LION to celebrate and honor Miami Valley’s Firefighters

August 5th, 2026

Dayton, Ohio —  In partnership with LION and the Dayton Fire Department, the Dragons are excited to host Dragons Fire Night presented by LION on Thursday, August 6, when the Dayton Dragons take on the Great Lakes Loons at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.

Dayton Dragons Fire Night presented by LION will spotlight Miami Valley firefighters from pre-game plaza activities to special in-game moments.

Activities on the plaza: Various booths including LION with giveaways, touch-a-trucks, fire education trailer, smoke tunnel, fire extinguishing challenges, and more!

Pre-Game Ceremonies: The National Anthem will be performed by Dayton Firefighter Price Dunlap. Presenting the colors will be the Dayton Fire Department Honor Guard.

Ceremonial first pitches will take place including a first pitch thrown by Dayton Fire Department Deputy Chief, Brad French, who has served at the Dayton Fire Department for over 20 years. Also throwing out a first pitch is Wyatt, son of Dayton Firefighter Thomas Ritchie. Firefighter Ritchie has been a member of the Dayton Fire Department for six years and works tirelessly for not only his community, but at home for his family and children.

First Responder of the Game: An in-game recognition will take place to honor a Miami Valley firefighter that went above and beyond to protect and serve our community. The honoree is Vandalia Firefighter Noah Van Doesburg. Firefighter Van Doesburg received a Letter of Commendation and Medal of Valor for risking his own life to save a trapped child from a blazing fire. Van Doesburg immediately took life-saving actions, disregarding his own safety and successfully rescued the child trapped in the residence.

Tickets to Dragons Fire Night are only $17.50 with additional fees and include an exclusive hat. $7.00 from every ticket sold will go back to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation as part of the Dragons Ticket Fundraising Program. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation's mission is to honor America's fallen fire heroes, support their families and colleagues, and work to reduce preventable firefighter death and injury.
