Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Dragons, in partnership with Flying Ace Express Car Wash, will recognize Team Tressel Fitness Challenge, as a “Community All-Stars” recipient during a special inning break of the Dragons game on Tuesday, September 1 against the West Michigan Whitecaps at Day Air Ballpark in the heart of the Water Street District. Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel will lead students in the Fitness Challenge in a pre-game parade. Tressel will deliver the lineup card with Dragons Manager, Julio Morillo, before the game. He will also be joined by Team Tressel athlete mentor, Donnie Evege, for a ceremonial first pitch. Other athlete mentors joining the celebration from Team Tressel are Josh Copeland, Rob Landers, Chris Wright, Dorian Vauls, and Alyssa Clements. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge is dedicated to helping Ohio students build healthy habits and reach their full potential. Led by Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel, the challenge helps students strengthen their physical and mental well-being through fitness, nutrition, sleep, an attitude of gratitude, and goal setting. More than just a fitness program, the challenge helps young people build confidence, develop discipline, and learn skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Today, more than half a million students in third grade through eighth grade participate in the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge. The program has reached schools and communities across all 88 Ohio counties, creating a statewide team committed to becoming healthier, stronger, and more confident.
Throughout the challenge, students are encouraged to set personal goals, build healthy routines, and celebrate their achievements. With support from teachers, families, and a mentorship network of collegiate and professional athletes, they learn the value of consistency, the importance of giving their best effort, and how to live with an attitude of gratitude. The challenge is offered at no cost to schools, ensuring that students of all backgrounds and abilities have the opportunity to participate. Whether completing activities at school or at home, every student can experience the pride that comes from setting a personal goal and achieving it.
