DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Dragons are proud to host ALS United Ohio inside the South Dayton Toyota Diamond Club and recognize Lou Gehrig Day at Day Air Ballpark during the Dragons game on Saturday, May 30 against the Great Lakes Loons. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
A longstanding partnership for over a decade, the Dragons and ALS United Ohio are teaming up to sell tickets for ALS United Ohio’s May 30 fundraising outing in the South Dayton Toyota Diamond Club. Tickets are $58 and will include a game ticket, non-alcoholic beverages, and ballpark buffet. A no-host bar will also be available for alcohol purchases. ALS United Ohio will receive $10 from the purchase of each ticket.

Major League Baseball annually celebrates Lou Gehrig Day on June 2 to raise awareness for ALS. June 2 is the date Gehrig became the New York Yankees’ starting first baseman and tragically passed away from the disease.
Dayton Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss (pronounced shuh-NEESE TUR-ner-Sloss, like “floss”) will read a proclamation to make May 2026 ALS Awareness Month in Dayton. Mayor Turner-Sloss will also proclaim May 30, 2026 to be ALS Awareness Day in Dayton.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a special first pitch prior to Saturday’s game at 6:49 pm. Local ALS advocate Dale Fitzpatrick will be honored and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in support of all those living with ALS in the Greater Dayton Area.
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is progressive and fatal. Classified as neurodegenerative, the disease affects nerve cells throughout the brain and spinal cord. Those impacted gradually lose the ability to walk, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. There is currently no cure for ALS.
