The Dayton Dragons, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Reds, announced the following roster addition today:
Right-handed pitcher Ty Floyd has been promoted to Dayton from Daytona (Single-A, Florida State League). Floyd had been on the Daytona injured list and joins the Dragons after completing an injury rehab assignment with the ACL Reds.
Floyd was the Reds supplemental first round draft pick in 2023 (38th overall pick in the draft) out of LSU. Floyd gained national attention with LSU in 2023 when he recorded 17 strikeouts in a College World Series start vs. Florida, tying the all-time record for most strikeouts in a CWS game prior to extra innings.
As a professional, Floyd has battled injuries that delayed his pro debut until 2025 when he was limited to 27.2 innings with Daytona. He is expected to make his High-A debut with the Dragons on Sunday following the rehab assignment of Julian Aguiar, who will start the game.
