Davenport, Iowa—The Quad Cities River Bandits scored runs in each of their first eight innings on the way to a doubleheader sweep of the Dayton Dragons on Saturday night. The River Bandits won the first game 10-4 and took the second game 7-1. Quad Cities has won four of the first five games in the six-game set that will conclude Sunday afternoon.
Recap: In the first game on Saturday, Quad Cites scored two runs in each of the first four innings, building an 8-4 lead. Dayton’s Mason Neville connected on a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to get the Dragons within two runs at the time at 6-4, but they could not close the deficit. The homer was the seventh with the Dragons for Neville and his 16th in the Reds farm system in 2026.
Dayton collected eight hits in the first game including two each by Peyton Stovall and John Michael Faile. Starting pitcher Kyle McCoy (4-4) took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in three and one-third innings.
In the second game, Quad Cities got a grand slam home run in the first inning by Derlin Figueroa and added two more runs in the second to jump out to a 6-0 lead. The only Dayton run came on a long home run by Tyson Lewis in the fourth, a blast that recorded an exit velocity of 116.7 mph. It was Lewis’ sixth home run with the Dragons and 10th in the Reds system this season.
The Dragons had six hits by six different players in the second game. Starting pitcher David Lorduy (0-2) was charged with the loss. He worked three and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
Up Next: The Dragons (15-18, 54-45) meet the River Bandits (19-15, 49-48) in the last game of the six-game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm (EDT) in Davenport, Iowa. JP Ortiz (4-1, 4.93) will start for the Dragons.
