Crawdads' Pitching Holds Delmarva to Two Hits

SALISBURY, MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds (36-63, 13-20) were defeated by the Hickory Crawdads (57-39, 23-9) on Thursday, 11-2.

The Crawdads produced a first-inning run for the third game in a row, scoring twice on an RBI single by Marco Argudin and a successful first-and-third steal to make it 2-0.

They extended their lead to 3-0 in the second on an RBI single by Yolfran Castillo.

In the third, Pablo Guerrero (2) put the Crawdads up 4-0 with a solo home run to left field.

Hickory pushed home two more runs on an RBI single by Daniel Flames in the fifth, followed by a wild pitch that put Delmarva behind 6-0.

The Crawdads put together their best inning in the sixth, scoring three runs by capitalizing on three Delmarva errors to take a 9-0 lead.

The Shorebirds broke the shutout in the bottom of the sixth on a single by Jaiden Lo Re as two runs scored to make it a 9-2 game.

Hickory added one run in the seventh and another in the ninth to take an 11-2 lead, and they'd go on to win by that score, regaining the series advantage.

Evan Siary (4-2) earned the win as the Crawdads' starter, while KK Clark (0-1) took the loss in his Delmarva debut.

The series continues Friday, with Dalton Neuschwander taking the mound against Mason McConnaghey for Hickory. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
