
Dunedin, FL – The Dunedin Blue Jays pitching staff did not allow a hit until the 8th inning as they defeated the Tampa Tarpons 8-3 on Tuesday night at TD Ballpark in their series opener, their third straight win.
KEY PERFORMERS
- LHP Brandon Barriera (4 IP, 0 R, 0 H 0 BB, 6 K) fired four no-hit frames and matched a career-high with six strikeouts, allowing only a hit batsman to reach.
- Over his last starts, Barriera had fired 6.2 shutout frames with one hit and ten strikeouts.
- It was Barriera’s longest outing of the season, and the first time since 2023 that he completed four innings.
- 2B Dameury Pena (3-for-4, RBI, 3 R, SB) smacked three hits including an RBI single in the 6th in his Dunedin home debut after being acquired from the Twins last week in the Jeff Hoffman trade.
- SS Ryan Cooney (1-for-3, HR, RBI, 2 R, BB) socked a solo homer to lead off the 8th, his first professional big fly.
- Cooney’s solo blast left the bat at 97.1 MPH and traveled 398 ft.
