Durham, NC --- Jake Cave doubled, homered and drove in all three Durham runs while Jesse Scholtens threw six scoreless innings as the Bulls held on to defeat the Gwinnett Stripers 4-3 at the DBAP on Friday night.

Cave took out Owen Murphy to lead off the fourth, then doubled home two in the fifth as the first place Bulls (20-9) evened the series with Gwinnett (16-14).

Scholtens (W, 2-2) tossed six scoreless, permitting just four hits and no walks to notch the victory.

The Stripers scored three times in the ninth against Evan Reifert, but Alexander Alberto (S, 4) entered to strike out pinch-hitter Jair Camargo to close out the win.

Saturday will feature a split doubleheader against the Stripers with the opener slated for 1:05 PM, followed by a 6:45 PM ET nightcap.

Notes:  Saturday's DH is a result of the Bulls-Stripers rainout on Sunday, July 5th.  Both games will be seven innings in length.... Scholtens' six-inning outing was his longest of the season and his deepest start since throwing 6.0 innings for Durham on September 13, 2025 against Norfolk...  The Bulls finished July 14-8, its first winning month of the season.
