Worcester, MA** --- Homer Bush singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th as the Durham Bulls edged past the Worcester Red Sox 4-3 at Polar Park on Saturday afternoon.
After Tatem Levins tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer in the seventh against Tanner Houck (L, 0-1), Bush delivered a line single to left-center with two outs to put Durham (39-34) ahead.
Owen Wild (S, 4) retired three straight batters in the Worcester 10th, stranding the tying run at third to close out Durham's second win in five games in the series.
The Bulls went ahead 1-0 in the first when Jack Suwinski stroked a hit to left to bring home Tre Morgan, who opened the game with a first-pitch double to right.
Franklin Arias put the Red Sox (40-32) ahead 2-1 in the third with a two-run homer to left against Bulls starter Jesse Scholtens.
A Levins grounder in the fourth pulled the Bulls even 2-2, scoring Kenny Piper from third. Piper had singled with one out, stolen second and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Tomas Nido.
Evan Reifert (W, 6-2) earned the win for the Bulls. Reifert stranded two baserunners in the eighth, then pitched out of a bases loaded, none-out jam in the last of the ninth by striking out three straight batters.
Jesse Scholtens worked 4 1/3 innings, permitting three runs. Alexander Alberto entered in the fifth with runners at first and third and induced a double play grounder. Manny Rodriguez pitched a clean eighth inning on 13 pitches in his second rehab appearance of the week.
Weather permitting, the Bulls close out the regular season on Sunday at 1:05 PM ET against Worcester.
Notes: Saturday's game was the second straight announced sellout by the Red Sox, with 9,508 fans attending.... Tre Morgan committed the first error of his Triple-A career in the ninth inning, covering 805 chances between 2025 and 2026. Morgan bobbled a grounder hit by Nathan Hickey, then collected the ball in foul territory, but his flip to Reifert covering the bag was dropped.... The Red Sox were eliminated from second half contention with the Rochester win earlier Saturday afternoon.... For the second straight half, Rochester will need a win on the final day of the regular season to advance to the league championship, provided Indianapolis wins Saturday night at Gwinnett.
