El Paso starter Ian Koenig allowed only one run in five innings Sunday afternoon in the Chihuahuas' 2-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Comets in the final game of the Chihuahuas' 2026 season. Koenig allowed only two runs in 17 innings over his final three starts of the season. The Comets won four of the six games in the series and 12 of the 18 games this year against the Chihuahuas.
The Chihuahuas' run came on catcher Anthony Vilar's RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. Vilar went 4-for-8 with two RBIs in the series. Sunday's loss dropped El Paso to 2-10 all-time in regular season finales.
The Chihuahuas turned two double plays Sunday and 154 this season, which will be the most in Minor League Baseball. Sunday was the first time since 2014 that the Chihuahuas ended a year with a regular season home game. El Paso used 78 players in 2026, the second-highest total in team history.
