The El Paso Chihuahuas shut out the Las Vegas Aviators 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Southwest University Park to seal their first shutout win of the season. Las Vegas entered play with the most runs scored in professional baseball (901). The Chihuahuas split the series against the Aviators and went 5-7 against them this season.
The Aviators didn't have a hit until Luke Mann's double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. El Paso starter Evan Fitterer pitched four scoreless innings and relievers Logan Gillaspie, Daison Acosta and José Leclerc pitched scoreless outings.
Chihuahuas first baseman Nick Solak went 3-for-4 with an RBI and went 14-for-27 with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBIs in the series. Right fielder Carlos Rodríguez went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Rodríguez' eight triples are the third-most in the Pacific Coast League. The Chihuahuas turned three double plays and their season total of 142 is one shy of their team record set in 2014.
