El Paso starter Ian Koenig allowed only one run in six innings in the Chihuahuas' 11-5 win over the Oklahoma City Comets Tuesday night at Southwest University Park. It was the first game of the final series of the season.
Koenig has pitched 12 innings over his last two starts and surrendered only one run. He's pitched five or six innings in all four of his starts since arriving from Double-A San Antonio. He's struck out 20 batters and walked four in his Triple-A starts. Chihuahuas first baseman Nick Pratto went 1-for-4 with a single, moving his career-high hitting streak to 13 games.
Shortstop Mason McCoy drove in four runs on a three-run double in the second and a bases loaded walk in the sixth. Ty Adcock pitched two perfect relief innings for the Chihuahuas, striking out three. Oklahoma City's magic number to clinch the Pacific Coast League second half title lowered to one when second place Sugar Land lost Tuesday night.
