EL PASO – August 13, 2026 – San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove, 33, is expected to make another rehab start with the El Paso Chihuahuas on Friday, August 14, against the Salt Lake Bees.
This will mark Musgrove’s third rehab start this season, and his second in Triple-A, as he looks to return to MLB for the first time since the 2024 season. He last pitched on Sunday, August 8, in El Paso’s series finale against the Reno Aces in Nevada.
The right-hander pitched 3.1 innings on Sunday afternoon, allowing one run on six hits with two strikeouts. The lone run Musgrove surrendered came on a leadoff solo home run in the first inning by Aces outfielder Kristian Robinson.
Musgrove threw 53 pitches, including 42 for strikes.
Before his rehab start with the Chihuahuas, Musgrove tossed 39 pitches on August 4 with Single-A Lake Elsinore. In 2.2 innings against the Ontario Tower Buzzers (Single-A, LAD), he surrendered one run on two hits and two walks, while striking out three batters.
Musgrove has pitched in four seasons with the Padres. He threw the franchise’s first no-hitter on April 9, 2021, against the Texas Rangers and was named an NL All-Star in 2022.
The Chihuahuas’ 2026 season continues Thursday, August 13, in El Paso for game three of the series between the El Paso Chihuahuas (13-27, 48-67) and the Salt Lake Bees (12-29, 51-64).
First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Mountain Time at Southwest University Park in El Paso, TX. The game will air on 600 ESPN El Paso and www.epchihuahuas.com.
