EL PASO – August 16, 2026 – Mason McCoy, 31, is now the 7th El Paso Chihuahuas in history to collect 300 hits with the franchise.
After a three-hit performance on August 15 against the Salt Lake Bees, he joins an exclusive list, including Matthew Batten (529), Taylor Kohlwey (383), Luis Campusano (333), Brett Sullivan (311), Rocky Gale (303), and Tirso Ornelas (300).
McCoy has recorded 90 or more hits in each of his three seasons with the Chihuahuas since joining the team in 2024. This season marks his second time recording 100 or more hits in a single season with El Paso (other: 2024). McCoy recently surpassed Diego Goris for the 5th-most games played in franchise history.
The Illinois native has mustered memorable moments earlier this season, including a walk-off single in May against the Tacoma Rainiers. He recorded a career-high 14-game hit streak from April 21 to May 6, during which he batted .429 with seven extra-base hits, including two home runs, and 13 RBI. Earlier this season, McCoy also played his 300th game as a Chihuahua on August 6 against the Reno Aces.
He continues to dominate the basepaths as well and has now recorded 20 or more stolen bases in a season for the fifth time in his career. He is second in team history in steals with 72.
The Chihuahuas’ 2026 season continues Sunday, August 16, for the series finale between the El Paso Chihuahuas (14-29, 49-69) and the Salt Lake Bees (14-30, 53-65).
