EL PASO – September 9, 2026 – The San Diego Padres have signed free-agent right-handed pitcher Trevor Gott to a minor league contract.
Gott, 34, was drafted by the Padres in the 6th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He was traded to the Los Angeles Angels the following season in 2014. In addition to the Angels, the Kentucky native has pitched for the Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, and New York Mets across his eight MLB seasons.
He has a 16-15 record with a 4.65 ERA and six saves in 255 major league appearances.
Gott last pitched in the big leagues in 2023 with the Mets and has since pitched for the Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A SEA) and Rochester Red Wings (Triple-A WSN).
In 26 games, including one start, with Rochester this season, he posted a 4-0 record with a 3.55 ERA across 33.0 innings pitched. In his final eight relief outings, Gott went 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA in 9.0 innings. The Red Wings released Gott on July 2.
The 2026 season continues Wednesday, September 9, as the El Paso Chihuahuas (21-43, 56-83) take on the Tacoma Rainiers (34-30, 67-72) in the final road trip of the season.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Mountain Time at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, WA. The game will air on 600 ESPN El Paso and www.epchihuahuas.com.
