Moon Mammoths Finish Off Series Split Behind Big Day From Chris Meyers

May 31st, 2026

ERIE, PA - The Erie Moon Mammoths (25-26) took down the Chesapeake Baysox (20-30) during a 5-2 Sunday matinee win at UPMC Park.

Starter Joe Miller turned in a solid outing for the second time in the series. The lefty started hot striking out the side in order in the top of the first. In the second inning, center fielder Tavian Josenberger blasted a two-run homer to open the scoring for Chesapeake. Miller did not allow another run for the rest of the outing.

The offensive performance was headlined by a big three-hit game from Chris Meyers. The veteran homered to open the scoring in the second inning, he later followed that up with a single in the sixth and a triple in the seventh. He finished just a double short of the cycle.

Right hander Duque Hebbert entered the game in relief of Miller. In what was his 2026 UPMC Park debut, Hebbert went 2.1 innings, allowing no hits, and striking out two. He earned his first win in 2026 and his second in his SeaWolves career.

Moises Rodriguez earned the save, pitching the final inning out of the bullpen. The righty faced the minimum in the final frame to close things out.

Erie heads out on the road tomorrow for a six-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels starting on Tuesday at 7:05 PM.
