August 1, 2026 — HILLSBORO, Ore.: The Everett AquaSox fell for the third consecutive evening, dropping the fifth game of the six-game series to the Hillsboro Hops 6-1 Saturday night at Hops Ballpark.
Fueled by a four-run bottom of the second, the Hops took an early command of the game that they never rescinded. Doing the initial damage for the Frogs’ opposition was a pair of two-run home runs — one hit by outfielder Avery Owusu-Asiedu and another belted by Adrian Rodriguez.
The AquaSox offense found the scoring column first, opening the game with an RBI single from Brandon Eike in the top of the first inning. Venezuela native Ricardo Cova singled to lead off the game, later stealing second base and ultimately scoring the Frogs’ only run on Eike’s base knock. Everett ended the night with six base hits — two of which belonged to Cova.
Hillsboro added a pair of late insurance runs — one run in each of the seventh and eighth innings — to pad their lead and place the game out of reach. José Mejía scored on a passed ball and Slade Caldwell delivered an RBI single, lining the baseball into center field to score Wallace Clark.
From the mound for the AquaSox, right-hander Evan Truitt struck out five in 5.2 innings of work and Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman allowed zero earned runs across 1.1 frames. Additionally, left-hander Caleb Franzen made his AquaSox debut during the game, striking out one batter to end the eighth inning.
